Well, Lane's love for basketball appears to be on a break right now, and in its place--a deep love for CARS, LAWNMOWERS, and CELL PHONES. Whenever he gets a chance to get in the cab of a car, this is what he does. Needless to say, we are going to have to keep a close eye on our keys, ha ha.

Take Me Out to the Hockey Game

Well, we HAVE taken Lane out to the Coyotes hockey game....3 times in the last 4 weeks! The first was with Dad and the Young Men, the 2nd was with Mom and Dad on a Tuesday datenight, and the last was with Dad, Uncle Seth, and cousin Colton. Lane was really well-behaved at all of them. If you live in the West Valley, you kind of have to be a Coyotes fan to be socially accepted.

The first game the 'Yotes lost in OT. I was just glad to get home alive with about 15 young men and 5 leaders. It was cool to hear the singing of "O Canada". The game was against Vancouver.

The 2nd game was memorable because we went to Cabela's first, because Anna hadn't been there yet. So we come for the start of the 2nd period, and we're outside taking pictures in front of the musical fountains (see picture below). There is this guy that is near us that is looking like he wants to talk to us. Finally I went up to him and asked him if he needed something, and he told us that he had 3 tickets on the 4th row, but his friends weren't going to make it. He asked if we would like to use them. So we gave our upper-deck seats to some other people outside the ticket window and had some really sweet seats. You should've seen Lane's face as we approached the seats. He's probably wondering what the heck....these giant guys cruising on the ice wacking a frozen rubber disc all over the place....at the plexiglass, at each other's faces, at the goal. Anyway, it was fun to see his reactions. He stayed on Mom's or Dad's lap the entire time and hardly moved. Also, all the people around thought he was cute and hilarious, and they kept feeding him popcorn and beer....kidding about the beer. We warned them that he is like the Zoo animals. If you feed them, they keep coming back for more.

The 3rd game with Seth and Colton was the best actual game of them all. The newspaper that morning called it their most important game of the year. It was a shootout thriller against a very good team. The Coyotes are in the home stretch of a playoff run, and things are looking good for the playoffs coming very soon.

We've had a little too much fun the past couple of weeks. Thank goodness the Coyotes are a great team, because all the other Phoenix teams REALLY stink this year!

Lane looks a little tired at this point. But still in awe.

This was the view from the 4th Row. You are right in on the action. We sat next to the guy that gave us the tickets. He was a nice guy from Boston who has lived in Phoenix since 1977. We talked about hockey and nursing, because his wife is a nurse.

About the only bummer was that we didn't really see any fights. Not as many fights in the NHL as there used to be. Of the 3 games we attended, the 'Yotes won a shootout thriller, a game in regulation, and lost one in OT to the team with the best record in the NHL, Vancouver.

Lane made sure to be decked out in green for St. Patrick's Day. Here he's getting ready to eat breakfast before heading out to the Phoenix Children's Museum (more on this later).

Linc woke up and made a St. Patty's breakfast. Similar to what Grandma Eagar did for her kids, Lincoln made green pancakes with green eggs (no ham) and green milk. There were no reports of pinching at the breakfast table.

We are really excited for a couple of reasons:

Lincoln passed his NCLEX-RN boards last Thursday, hooray! The job search is underway! In the meantime, he is teaching English classes to the Spanish-speaking prospects of the L.A. Dodgers. He has done this for a couple of years now and enjoys it.

and

Our Stake is getting ready to have a visit from an Apostle! Elder Neal L. Anderson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will be at the Surprise Stake Conference this weekend.

We are going to have several meetings with him. Lincoln and Anna will get to hear him at the Saturday night adult meeting and the Sunday Stake Conference. Lincoln will get to have smaller meetings with him as well: Saturday afternoon at Priesthood Leadership and then Sunday morning at a special meeting Elder Anderson is having with the Young Men and Young Women only. This should be a very memorable weekend for us.

We are so excited for both of these events.

Lane's Speech Sessions

Lane's speech is coming along...slowly, but fairly steady. He has speech therapy sessions once a week with his therapist, Becky. She comes here to our house and does the sessions, which is nice. It may look like they are "play sessions", but with boys often it's the play with interactive toys that gets them going. Often girls learn to talk sooner, while with boys all they want to do is run, jump, push and pull toys around, and climb. They'd much rather do that than stay still and present a speech. In these pictures, Lane is playing with an interactive playground. It has a slide that he would put the little figures on, then push a lever and watch them slide down. He loved it. There was also a little horse that he could have the figures ride. If you haven't heard him say "horsey" yet, it's something to see. We'll try to get it on video and post it.

Becky is very good at getting him to repeat things and to encourage him to speak before giving him something or moving on to the next task. He enjoys being with her.

He can repeat almost any word that is given to him. Current favorites include: "horsey", "basketball", "away", "Woody" and "Buzz" (from Toy Story), and, of course, "Mama", "Dada", and recently-- "Lane". His other very favorite word to say is "BEAST!!!". This is because he loves Beauty and the Beast so much. He watches it several times per week.

Occasionally, he surprises us. The other day on the way out to the mailbox, I held his hand and started walking. Then suddenly, he pulled his hand away and said, "Let me go!". At this point, I was the one who was speechless.

Christmas morning at 7am...we've slacked compared to the old days

Well, this post is EXTREMELY late, but we figured we better get it on here before another month passes.

We had a great Christmas this year. The highlights definitely included having EVERYONE on both sides of our family home for Christmas. It was so great to be with all of the family. Having Lincoln's brothers in from out of state, and Anna's sister here from Macedonia made the holidays extra sweet.

The other highlight, of course, was that this year we could see Lane understand Christmas a little bit more than last year. It was fun to watch him unwrap some presents--or unwrap part of the present. He opened up a new toy train at Grandpa and Grandma Traeger's house and said "choo choo!" for quite a while (pictured above).

As always, we really enjoyed the infamous Traeger Christmas Eve Ramschnitzel dinner (above) and the much-anticipated Eagar Christmas breakfast (below). We still miss Grandpa and Grandma Eagar as well as Aunt Judy at that breakfast.

Other highlights included an extra special Polar Express-themed Hamblin Christmas party, Lincoln and Anna singing a duet together at the party, and finally getting all of the Eagar boys together to play basketball like the old days. Another fun thing we did was have a little Christmas musical program and Nativity Scene on Christmas Eve.

We also enjoyed making candy trains, going shopping with Erin, and the New Year's Day party with the Eagar cousins.

While we were still in Surprise, we enjoyed making fudge mint brownies and taking them around to our neighbors and those we home & visit teach. Our friends across the street also came over with some surprise gifts for us. Lincoln enjoyed baptizing one of his Young Men and attending the baptism of a nice couple that is new to our ward. Also memorable was heading up a service project with the Priests Quorum where we trimmed a big palo verde of a single sister in our ward, which was badly needed and a great help to that family.

We took it all in, and enjoyed every minute of it. Below are some pictures from Christmas 2010:

Anna is holding in her hands an item that combines two of Lane's greatest loves: Basketball and Toy Story. In a showing of his undying love for basketball, Lane received 3 different basketball hoops this Christmas: this one (pictured) for the bathtub, a kid-sized one for his room, and another smaller one that can hang anywhere. This in addition to the one he got from the neighbors that he has in the backyard. Overkill? Yeah, probably.

Lane loves basketball more than anything in life right now. He spends a couple of hours a day out in the backyard shooting hoops! It all begins when we get him out of bed, and he sees it through the kitchen glass door. He wants to shoot before breakfast, even if it is in the mid-40's outside. It goes really well with his other talent of throwing things!!

Here he is, working on his shooting form. He kinds holds it to the side a little.

One great thing about it is that it has helped him learn some new words in addition to just "ball". He now says "basket", "basketball", "yeah", and we have heard him say, "I did it!" a couple of times. Up next--he is working on how to say "swish".

The biggest crack up is watching him do his little dribble before he shoots. He squats and grabs the ball with both hands and bounces it VERY close to the ground a couple of times.

Another funny thing is that he is a great passer! When either Lincoln or Anna comes out to shoot with him, he goes from "shooter mode" to being the point guard looking for his next assist. And more often than not, his passes are right on the money!

We are grateful that he has a new hobby to use up all that extra energy and allow Mom and Dad to get stuff done. :)

He is almost 2!! December 31 will be here in no time.

Our trip to the State Fair

On November 3, we took a family trip to the State Fair in Phoenix, and we had a really great time. The weather was great, and we enjoyed watching Lane take it all in for the first time.

We started by seeing all of the exhibits in the Coliseum, and then we worked our way over to the farm animals and the petting zoo! Lane got to see everything from baby chicks and goats to kangaroos. Yes, there was a kangaroo in the petting zoo! He also got to see an actual milking of a cow, and learned all kinds of facts about milk and the milking industry.

Then we went to the "Toddler Zone", which was a very cool place. Lane might have had his most fun here. It had lots of diversionary toys that could keep any kid occupied. Lane (and Dad) had a blast playing with the large legos while Mom went to check out the sewing and knitting exhibits. And you'll see a picture below of Lane climbing on a bunch of wrestling pads that they had laid out. They had toy trucks and a maze built of hay bales as well.

We had some awesome corndogs and homemade wedge-cut fries for dinner, and then headed off to the Coliseum for the Montgomery Gentry concert. We thought Lane might not like the concert, but he ended up being in awe over all the lights and sounds. He quite enjoyed it.

We had a great time and are glad we went.

Halloween 2010

Okay, so I fully acknowledge that I am a Halloween FREAK! But hey, the first step to recovery is admitting there's a problem right? Well, everybody who knows me knows that Halloween is my favorite holiday. Now, I'm not into the gory, over the top scary stuff. I'm more of a cute, pumpkin decor person. I love Halloween for the following reasons:
1. In Arizona it is the start of beautiful weather.
2. For the most part it is a laid back holiday. There's not the craziness/ hectic schedule that you get with the holidays.
3. I love carving Jack-O-Lanterns, and I'm actually pretty good at it- I've even won a contest or two or three.
4. The "It's the great pumpkin Charlie Brown" Halloween special
5. I love planning out our costumes for the ward trunk or treat.
6. I think it's the only holiday where you can have your door open and make friends with complete strangers all night long.
7. Who can't love a holiday where people pass out chocolate and candy for free?

So now get ready for my Halloween montage:

So we went as the whole Scooby Doo gang. I have to give it to Lincoln. Not many husbands would go along with this. However, he did start shaking his head a little as I tied his orange ascot on him- he said, "AS.. What?" Anyways, love you Linc :) Also, a special thanks to our neighbor Michelle who does photography. Their family came to the trunk or treat with us and she came over a few minutes before and took pictures of us.

Lane is growing up SO fast. He will be 20 months old at the end of August. He has started nursery, which we are very excited about. His vocabulary has swelled to a whopping 2 words--EAT and AMEN--and we are working to improve that in a hurry! He has a lot to say in his own language...just nothing we can understand yet.

He is in a serious CLIMBING mode right now, and he looks to climb up just about everything that is in his view. He still loves to give high fives to everyone and has learned to fold his arms when we pray. He loves to visit both Grandparents' houses, and play with them. His smile is still priceless.

Havasupai Trip!

"New" Navajo Falls

Lincoln and the Venture and Varsity Scouts had a great time at their High Adventure activity at Havasupai from July 14 to July 17. They had a blast! The hike was long and hard, and it was around 120 degrees outside, but Havasupai is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Lincoln had been there before, as a 12-year-old Scout, and again as a 14-year-old Varsity Scout, but this was the first time he'd been there since,
19 years later. He did pretty well on the hike, given how old he is! Amazingly, he had no blisters to show for his efforts, although he wished his pack was a little bit lighter on the way down. He was really grateful that each of the guys was tough and did not complain one bit.

He also had the chance to see parts of Havasupai he had never seen before. He had never seen the "New" Navajo Falls before...just the original Navajo Falls. There have been several floods since he last was in Havasupai, the most recent big flood happened in 2008.

He had also never gone past Mooney Falls before this Trip. On Friday, he and a group hiked the extra 4 miles each way through rough terrain (and even having to go rock climbing on one part of the trail) to reach Beaver Falls, the 4th of the 4 Waterfalls that make up Havasupai. The clear, cool, turquoise pools along the trail make for quite the scene. The lime deposits from the water form amazing travertine sculptures and formations. The water temperature was perfect. He and the group stopped and swam about 3 times on their way to Beaver Falls, which was fun. The group also discovered a couple of freshwater springs, old mining caves, and a rope swing that was perfect for jumping in the pools. Lots of the guys did some cliff jumping as well.

There were 12 young men and 5 adult leaders, and we had a very memorable trip. We were also a little lucky, because the following Monday, 160 campers were evacuated from the Campground due to flooding from the Monsoon storms. We had great weather, and we talked a lot as a group each night about missions and mission preparation, and likened it to the trip.

It was a great trip, and a great getaway. He was glad to go, and glad to come home. And he was happy that the group came home in one piece. Outside of a few little complications that made them come home several hours later than planned, the entire trip went off without a hitch!

Happy Birthday, Argentina!

July 9 is Argentina's Independence Day. To celebrate, this past July 9th we hung the Argentine Flag, wore the National Seleccion Soccer Jersey (worn at the World Cup)and Lincoln actually learned the words to the Himno Nacional (National Anthem), courtesy of YouTube. It is a long and sometimes pretty National Anthem. You are listening to it now. Maybe in a few years, Lane will understand what is going on!

We also found tons of cool videos of Cordoba, Argentina on YouTube that Lincoln had never seen before, which brought back a flood of good memories. It also got us pumped to make a trip down there! We have a goal to get down there for the dedication of the new Cordoba, Argentina temple in a couple of years. It will be right next door to Lincoln's mission home!

Oh, and we are dogsitting for Uncle Ron and Aunt Ann, so Lane has a new best friend--their golden labrador, Luke. They have so much fun together that they tire each other out!

Memorial Day Parade

We had fun as a family participating in Surprise's 4th Annual Memorial Day Parade. Our ticket in was through the Cub Scouts! Anna's Bears Den and the Wolves Den met up early for donuts, watermelon, and OJ, and when the clock struck 8:30 am, we were off! So Lane has now taken part in his first parade. He had a great time. He particularly enjoyed seeing the ponies directly behind us, seeing the Military vehicles, and watching the Cubs pass out tootsie rolls to all of the paradegoers. It was fun to march by Surprise Stadium and hear the PA announcer announce the Cub Scouts and the Church. A great time was had by all! We are grateful for all of those men and women who have given their lives protecting our freedom. We are also thankful for all those who have served in the military, including our own ancestors.

Tuesday was Anna's 28th birthday. She spent the first half of the day sleeping, because she worked the previous night. All of her co-workers sang Happy Birthday to her at midnight.

Then she went shopping and got some new clothes. Meanwhile, she continued to get birthday phone calls regularly from all of her family and friends, and received a nice gift from her Visiting Teachers.

Then, after Lincoln got home from work, we had the party. She opened her gift from Lincoln and Lane: The Blue Album by Weezer! Circa 1994. This was a brand-new replacement for the one she lost back in high school! She loved it and was very surprised.

She ran briefly to Cub Scout Pack Meeting (she is so dedicated), and then off we went for dinner at Outback Steakhouse, which was a great night out for us.

Finally, we put Lane to bed and watched "Parenthood" before Anna completely sacked out at the early hour of 10 p.m. A great day!

7 Reasons We Love the Spring

1) Orange Blossoms

After only having a couple of blossoms last year, our trees this year are loaded. The back yard is smelling quite nice these days. The fragrance also remind us that a couple of other Spring traditions are under way...

2) The Easter Pageant!

We attended the Easter Pageant dress rehearsal and had a great time. It brings such a powerful message and a sweet spirit, and answers some of the most important questions of mankind. Lane was mesmorized by the great show. Or maybe it was the popcorn and hot chocolate.

3) Spring Training in Arizona

The Cactus League is a Spring tradition in Surprise as well, and we love having the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals practically right in our backyard!

4) General Conference!

We are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to listen to our leaders once again, as they teach us how to be happy in this crazy world we live in.

5) March Madness

The first Thursday and Friday of the NCAA Basketball Tournament might be the greatest sports days of the entire year! The music you hear is the CBS Theme of March Madness.

6) Gardening

We planted ours a couple of weeks ago. We've got tomatoes, basil, oregano, watermelon, and peas planted. Cantaloupe will be in a few weeks. With all of this rain, we are optimistic!

7) Sun Devil Baseball

Arizona State is ranked #1 in the nation in baseball and so far is 23-0. ASU has broken a 49-year-old school record for the best start to a season. This is a gritty team with a high-powered offense and a rookie coach! There are a couple of things you can bank on in life: The sun will come up, and the Devils will be awesome in baseball. We expect another run at the College World Series in Omaha this June.

Hiking in the White Tanks

A few weeks ago, we took a family trip to the White Tanks Mountain Park. It's hard to believe, given that we've lived in Surprise over 5 years now, but it was our first time seeing the actual White Tanks waterfall. We had a great day. The weather was beautiful and the desert was green and getting ready to bloom.

The mountains are called the White Tanks because when we get enough rainfall (we have this year!), there are "tanks" of water up above that spill off and over the edge, creating a waterfall. The tanks are called "White Tanks" because when the water repeatedly strikes against the granite, its natural white appearance is shown.

One thing we enjoyed the most was seeing Lane get excited about seeing all of the people on the trails we hiked, and seeing him interact with their dogs! This boy loves dogs. We hiked about a mile each way to see the waterfall.

Another highlight was learning about the history of the place. We are familiar with what the Ho Ho Kam Indians did on the east side of town (the canals), but we didn't realize that they also dwelt in these Western mountains as well. We really enjoyed learning more about them and seeing the many artifacts and petroglyphs that they left behind. Many of the petroglyphs are in plain view only a few feet from the trail. We learned a lot, and now Anna wants to bring her Cub Scouts to see it all.

Lane got a really special treat recently when cousin Cooper came over to play and have a sleepover while his parents were at Disneyland!

We really enjoyed watching these two play and enjoy each other's company. We also got a glimpse of what it will be like to have more than one little one around the house. They are both such good little boys, and we found that we did just fine.

Time Flies When You're Having Fun

It is hard to believe, but we celebrated our 8th Wedding Anniversary on January 8. The day was pretty routine, but we enjoyed getting Barro's Pizza and a babysitter for Lane in the evening and heading off to enjoy great seats at a Suns game, courtesy of Linc's dad's work. Of course, this was the part of the anniversary for Lincoln. We got to go with Linc's parents, and we had a great time.

Lincoln had to get up early the next morning to go with the YM down to Yuma to go shotgun shooting, but we kind of continued the date that night, going to see the movie "The Blind Side". We had been wanting to see it for quite some time, and thought it was a great story.

Rumor has it that Anna will get her portion (her revenge) soon, as this anniversary date will continue even further into Valentine's Day, and she will be scheduling us for dance lessons at a studio. Oh man....

The Eagar family, New Year's Day, 2010 @ Freestone Park.

Lane celebrated his 1st Birthday the day before, on December 31. He had a happy little birthday party at home, and then again on January 2 at the Eagars and January 3 at the Traegers. It's amazing how he has grown and developed this year. He is one of the sweetest blessings that we have ever known.

We hope each of you had a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season. We will celebrate our 8th year of marriage on January 8. We can't believe how quickly it has flown by. We could write a book.... We are very thankful for all of our blessings, some of which are: each other, our family, our friends, our health, eternal truths, service, our happiness, our employment, our home, our triumphs, and our trials....in short, for life! Our lives are so much the better for having each of you in them. What would we ever do without each of you? Well, 2010 is already off and running, and we hope this new decade brings happiness and prosperity to each of you. Things have been so crazy for us during 2009 that you may have to consider this your Christmas Card from us!

We were so happy to have everyone there. It was really special that Erin was able to be home with us from far-away Macedonia. We were also able to celebrate her birthday a little early before she had to go back. We loved spending time with her and were sad to see her leave.

November Firewood Trip

Lane Lincoln Eagar, 10 1/2 months

Well, the tradition continues....we went up to our special spot on November 14 to get our annual haul of firewood to burn at the Eagar home in Mesa. It comes in handy when the temperatures dip in December.

This was Lane's first trip, and he loved every minute of it, except when he got sick and threw up three times!! (This was the first time he had really gotten sick. Not bad--once in 10 1/2 months!) Later, the whole Eagar camp came down with the same mysterious stomach flu that came in like a lion and quickly left 6-12 hours later. Almost everyone that went on the trip got sick at some point during the weekend, prompting Reubs (Lincoln's dad) to call Lane, the "Little Bug". But as he said, "he's so cute...how can anyone be mad at him?"

Even though it is fun, it is still work

U2- Finally!

I know this is a little late, but I was able to go see U2 on Oct. 20th with my brother Chad. I have always wanted to go to a U2 concert, but for some reason or another never went. Finally, I made up my mind that if they went on tour again, I was going. Well, in April my brother told me they were coming so we got tickets and went. Linc opted out of the concert- I still don't know why. I ended up going with my brother and two of his frinds. As my brother said, "We had a great time, and Anna jammed out white-girl style" :)

We took this picture at our Ward's Annual Trunk-or-Treat activity. We are ghostbusters out to get Slimer, the ghost. Looks like we caught him!

Let me explain the title of this post. Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday of the whole year. Unfortunately, this year I came down with the flu in the middle of the night Friday. By Saturday night I had lost 8 lbs. I'm over the major symptoms, but I am just weak and tired. Anyways, I was still able to carve an awesome pumpkin before getting sick, but wasn't able to get any pics. I was also sadly disappointed that I didn't place in this year's pumpkin carving contest at the trunk or treat- maybe next year. Here's to a better Halloween next year :)

Here it is! The theme Anna chose is a Jungle/Safari theme, and this is reflected in Lane's bedding, the pictures on the wall, and in the indoor plants that are going on the dresser. Big props to Anna for the neat design, ideas, and for doing much of the work. About all I did was hang the shelves and assemble the crib and changing table way back when. Also, we want to thank Erin for all her help in painting the walls back in January. She was a big help to us, and hopefully had a little bit of fun as well. Anna got the idea for the striped walls from a magazine. Lane even has a little throw blanket that matches the wall. The room is complete with a dresser, rocking chair for Mom, rocking chair for baby, books, a swing, a play saucer, and a changing table.

The wall includes shelving, pictures of Lane's ultrasounds, a nice sign made by our Bishop's wife, Lane's Baby Blessing certificate, and a small fishtank housing Lane's little Beta fish named Rico. Rico has been with us only a few days longer than Lane; he was given to us jokingly (since we accidently killed our neighbor's Beta fish in December)as a gift at the company Christmas party. We are suprised he has lasted this long! He and Lane are good buddies.

My Orangu-chancho

My nickname for Lane is orangu-chancho. His hair sticks up like a baby orangutan's (orangu) and he has a healthy appetite (chancho is Spanish for piglet). These next few pictures show this very well.

I have tried everything to keep his hair down and have only found that mega-mega hold gel works. Apparently my hair stuck up just like this until I was two years old.

Lincoln and I went to check on Lane after we had put him down for the night and this is what we found. I finally figured out what was happening. Lane would sit up or stand up in his crib and couldn't figure out how to lay back down so he would just bend over and fall asleep.

Eagar Family Reunion 2009

We had our now annual Eagar Family Reunion August 21-23 up at our special place, Sherwood Forest. We had so much fun spending the weekend with our Eagar cousins getting caught up with each others' lives and getting to meet new faces (all the babies).

We had our usual fun, which means softball in the field, basketball and volleyball, running relay races and playing tug-o-war, riding horses all over, having the talent show, playing cards, and of course, EATING! But in addition to the usual activities, we did something new this year: Each of us made presentations about one of our relatives from our Eagar ancestry.

Anna and I did a presentation about Tarlton Lewis, Lincoln's 4x Great-Grandfather on his dad's side. He is one generation further back than our Eagar History book goes, so we did some research on the Internet.

In addition to being a master stonelayer, stone quarrier, and temple builder, Tarlton was the first Bishop of Salt Lake City, was a convert to the Church, was the captain of a pioneer company of 50 across the plains, was ordained a High Priest under the hands of Joseph and Hyrum Smith themselves, and he ran missions to rescue stranded pioneers. He also was a miner (owned part of a mine in Parowan, Iron County, Utah) and a great colonizer of several settlements in southern Utah. He was a great man and we are grateful to be related to him. We already draw great strength from his powerful example.

We enjoyed every moment of the reunion, especially being with all of our cousins whom we love. It was Lane's first Eagar Reunion, and he loved every minute of it.

4th of July

This 4th of July we started off by raising the flag at the stake center. We then headed over to Gilbert and spent the afternoon with my family and spent the evening with Lincoln's family in Mesa. Then we headed back home for the Surprise fireworks. When we got home, my brother Seth and nephew Colton were waiting for us with ice cream and hot fudge sauce.

Lincoln's brother Matt and his wife and children are here for a week from Ohio. We are having a lot of fun with them here. We had a family home evening in Mesa at Lincoln's parents' house. This was the first time Lane was able to meet his "Ohio cousins". It was also the first time for him to meet Aunt Stacy.

It's Official

Well, it is official. I am now an RN. I took my boards on June 29. So I can now officially write RN after my name :)Lincoln will be taking his on August 5. I fond that the NCLEX was basically a big mind game. The least number of questions you can get is 75 and the most you can get is 265. The computer shuts off once you reach a point that you are either doing so badly there is no way you can pass, or you are doing so well you can't fail. You don't find out your results until the next day. So just because your test ends at 75 questions, it may not be a good thing. The test went well for me and I am SO happy to be done with it.

Hamblin Reunion 2009

This year we had a great time at the Hamblin Reunion. It is held about half an hour outside of Eagar at Nutrioso in the White Mountains. We left at 3:30 am on Friday so we could make it in time to Bear Wallow before they stopped serving breakfast. Bear Wallow is one of my favorite small town places to go and eat. Their breakfasts are DELICIOUS!It is also located in the beautiful town of Alpine, AZ. These pictures are of us outside of the restaurant.
Overall, the reunion was lots of fun. This was our second time camping with Lane. However, I call this camping "pampered camping" (running water, bathrooms, electricity, lodge, kitchen etc.) He did great and it was fun to have everybody meet him. It is always fun catching up with Lincoln's cousins and aunts and uncles.

Linc & Anna's Graduation Party

Our ward threw us a graduation party on May 28. We have incredible people in our ward who are very kind to us. Carla Bennett, our Bishop's wife, organized the party to celebrate our graduations from Nursing School on March 12 (Lincoln) and May 12 (Anna). By our request, we got many of our friends together from the neighborhood and met at the Ashton Ranch swimming pool for a picnic and swim. One of the great things about the night was that the Bennetts brought Fried Chicken, one of Lincoln's favorite meals that he almost never gets to have.

Ready for dinner. Both of us are sporting our Argentine soccer jerseys. Lincoln's is the Argentine National World Cup jersey, and Anna's is the jersey of Boca, one of South America's most popular teams. Lane is just taking it all in.

For Lincoln's B-day we decided to take Lane to his first baseball game. Arizona St. was in the super regionals and the weather was beautiful, so we headed over to Tempe to catch a game. We all had a great time and Lane even helped cheer for ASU. More importantly, our Sun Devils pulled out a win and are now in the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. One of the more amazing things was the beautiful weather: It was only in the mid to upper-80's for this game. On June 6! We had a great time. Before the game, we had family pictures and then went to Red Robin for Linc's birthday.

Well, I have officially hijacked the blogspot. Now that I am done with school, I am relieving Lincoln of all blogspot responsibilities. He has done a great job, but I know he will be glad not to have to update it.
Okay, so I better explain the music. This song is the first song I remember hearing growing up and I still love it today. I was 5 years old and I remember my oldest brother and I jamming out to it on our Sony radio/cassette player. It's truly an 80s classic.

Memorial Day Camping

Lincoln, Lane, and I went camping over Memorial Day. Now, this was hard-core camping, in a tent w/o a toilet. I have to say we did pretty well. Lane slept through the night both nights. My mom even called me the day before we left to see if I was still going through with camping. I told her yes, but asked her what time she was having dinner on Sunday in case I had had enough and we decided to shut down camp early. Well, everything turned out great. This picture was actually right when we arrived and were waiting out a rainstorm in the car.

The Phoenix Zoo

With school being done, Lane and I had the chance to go to the Phoenix Zoo with my sister Claire and nephew Cooper. I LOVE the zoo. I haven't been to the zoo for a couple of years and it was fun to go back. It's hard to say which was my favorite, but the babboons might take the cake. My favorite line of the day was a 3 year old girl looking at the babboons and asking her dad why they have a red "tooshie"

Well, in case you are wondering: Lincoln and I have both completed our nursing programs. Lincoln graduated on March 12, and I graduated on May 12. Yes, you can laugh at my picture, they made our program wear the 1950s nurse's outfit. Lincoln and I are both studying for our boards and are enjoying life w/o school :)

Farewell Old Blue

Well, it has finally happened. Old Blue is no longer a member of the Eagar family. This picture is of Lincoln's last moments with the first vehicle he ever owned. I knew we would need to sell the truck to get a more "family friendly" vehicle, but it was still sad to see it go. Every time I would bring up selling Old Blue to Lincoln, he would put on a sad face, then tease me that he's had the truck longer than he's had me. He got the truck on Halloween of 1998, after being home from his mission a couple of months. We got our use out of this 1991 GMC Sierra and then some. We bought it at 82k miles and sold it at 176k miles. Well, it sold the first day we put it out on the street.

For our 7th Wedding Anniversary we went to the Lion King at Gammage Auditorium. It was amazing! The coolest part of the production would have to be the costumes of the cast. For example, it begins by having some giraffes come onto the stage, and you can't really tell right away which part is costume and which part is person (see picture below). Anna had just had the baby 10 days earlier, and the NICU nurses were our babysitters that night. I think we were still in shock that Lane had arrived so early. We had a great time celebrating our anniversary and can't believe that these 7 years have gone by so quickly!

Lane's Special Day

The weekend of March 29 was a great one for our family. We had lots of family and friends travel long distances to be with us as we gave Lane Lincoln Eagar a name and a baby blessing. For the new dad, this was a wonderful and unforgettable moment, and one that I had been anticipating for quite some time. It was the realization of one of my fondest dreams. Lane was blessed to do some very special and important things in his life.

It was really neat to see our family and friends fill one entire section of the chapel. It was also neat for Anna and I to share our testimonies of the truthfulness of the restored Gospel and Church with our families, friends, and ward family.

Afterwards, we gathered at our home for lunch and good times. Thanks to everyone who contributed to it. We had BBQ Chicken Sandwiches, Chips, Fruit, about 3 different salads, and drinks. For dessert we had 2 different Texas sheet cakes with ice cream. Fortunately, it was a beautiful, mild, sunny day here which allowed us to have lunch picnic-style in our back yard. We fit about 30 people at our little house, which was a near-miraculous feat. We really enjoyed visiting with everyone and catching up on what we've all been up to. We had just about everyone there, but we missed very much those of you that were unable to be with us.

Lots of Firsts

Over that past month or so, we've had many "firsts" around our house with Lane. We've had first trips to the Pediatrician, first time having Grandmas babysit (which we REALLY appreciate), first visit to Grandparents' houses, first time watching the Cardinals in the Super Bowl (well, that was a first for the world), first time to the grocery store, and first time to Church. Overall, he's handled it great and it has been a very enjoyable experience. Lane is happy and doing very well...he weighs over 8 lbs. and is healthy, strong, and GROWING. He just turned two months at the end of February, and time is flying by, especially as Nursing School is ending for Lincoln and nearing the end for Anna. We will bless Lane at our ward on March 29 at noon, and any of our friends and family are invited to attend!

Lincoln just finished his preceptorship at John C. Lincoln Emergency Room working night shifts. He had a bunch of amazing experiences and really grew and gained confidence in using his skills to practice being a Registered Nurse. He is very excited to graduate March 12 (tomorrow!) at 7 pm at the Phoenix College Auditorium. Anna has had clinical rotations at Del Webb Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital and finishes these clinicals this week. From here on out, she just has regular class exams and finals in April before doing her 8-shift preceptorship and graduating in May. Anna also got a new church calling, what she calls her "dream calling". She is the Den Mom for the Wolves in Cub Scouts! She has already attended a couple of meetings and the Pinewood Derby. Lincoln continues as the Elders Quorum President, and this Saturday his Elders Quorum has an activity where they are playing a basketball game against the High Priests and Young Men in the ward.

We are loving every moment as parents, and are trying to treasure each moment. Here are a few pictures scattered over that past month or so.

Lane has been home since January 18, 2009, and we have loved having him home with us. His birth weight was 4 lbs. 6 oz., but he now weighs over 7 lbs and is doing very well. He is a good little baby and we are having such a fun time being his parents. He has stayed at home, except for a quick trip over to Mesa and Gilbert on Super Bowl Sunday, and a couple of appointments with the pediatrician. If you're wondering, Anna and Lincoln's Nursing School schedules have meshed very well. We have been able to be home with him everyday but two thus far. Thanks to Lincoln's mom for coming out to watch him one day and to Courtney Sherrill for watching him on the other. He loves his car seat, but is not so crazy about his crib or pack-n-play so far. He loves sleeping in his mom's lap the best. And he really loves to make noises! Maybe he is talking to himself, or maybe all of the grunting is just his little nervous system developing. Or maybe along with all of his moving his arms and legs it is his outlet for all of the energy he has. One thing is for sure, we are loving every minute of it. (even the early-morning feedings and diaper changes.)

Baby Lane is Here!!

We are very happy to say that Lane Lincoln Eagar was born at Del Webb Hospital on December 31, 2008 at 11:24 am. He came to us very early--almost 6 weeks early! He was born weighing 4 pounds and 6 ounces, and 16 inches long. We are so happy that his lungs were in great shape from the first moments and he is breathing just fine on his own.

Anna did a great job bringing him here, and she is recovering very well. Anna came home from the hospital on Friday, January 2. She stayed there 2 nights.

He is very cute and we are in love with him already. We usually make a couple of trips to the nursery a day just to see him and to bring him his take-out (milk). Anna is doing a great job keeping up with him. We are grateful that he is just minutes away from our home.

He will likely stay in the hospital at least several more days--they have not given us a date. This is because it is all based on whether he consistently gains weight, learns to nipple all of his feedings on his own, and maintains his temperature. As of this posting, he is maintaining his temperature outside the isolette, nippling a few of his feedings all on his own, and is slightly under his birth weight, which is normal. We are anxious to have him home, but know that the care he is getting now will help us hopefully not have to bring him back later.

We feel very blessed as we have been patiently waiting for this special time. We're grateful for all of the visits, phone calls, text messages, and posts of support and congratulations. It means a lot to us and we love it!

Anna........Pregnant!

Just a little update on the pregnancy. As you can see, Anna has a cute little bump. She just passed her 34-week mark. We are really enjoying this special time in our lives.

At Anna's last doctor's visit they did an ultrasound, but the baby was down with the back of the head forward. This is great for birthing, but gave us a crummy ultrasound photo, so Lincoln was disappointed when he got home from work that night.

Mom and baby are doing really well. The doctor is predicting that he'll be around 7 pounds by the time February 9 gets here; He is only slightly below normal weight at this time, but there are no concerns there. Meanwhile, we are pretty much all ready for him to come, needing only a car seat and stroller. Anna is planning to paint the nursery this week. Big thanks to Anna's Mom and Dad for the nice Pack-and-Play and to Lincoln's Mom and Dad for the crib bedding, both of which have a "Safari" theme to them. We also have a cute little Cabela's pop-top rifle for him to hunt with on his Safari.

Christmas at our house

We want to wish all of our family and friends a Merry Christmas and happy holiday season. Here are a few pictures of what's been going on at our house. We've been busy with school, but we found time to chop down a nice Blue Spruce Christmas tree during the elk hunt, put up the house lights on December 6, and listen to the baby while we took our Christmas picture. Anna finished Block III of Nursing School on Monday the 15th. She did so on a major high note by getting an "A" on her final and in all of her classes. She makes us all proud. She now has a nice break to enjoy the holidays and make all the final preparations for baby time here in February. She begins Block IV on January 20, and we will see how everything develops from there. If everything goes smoothly with the pregnancy, she will graduate this coming May. I (Lincoln) had a critical care test on December 17th, and then my Christmas Break finally began. Nursing school is going great for me as well, and I am loving my clinical time at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix. I am in the middle stages of Block IV and getting very close now to my graduation date of March 12 of this coming year. I am really enjoying learning how to take care of patients.
